Richard LeCouteur
Richard A. LeCouteur, BVSc, PhD, Diplomate ACVIM(Neurology), Diplomate ECVN. Dr. LeCouteur graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney, in 1975. After a year in private small animal practice in Sydney, Australia, he completed an Internship and Residency in Surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Canada (1976 - 1978). He then completed a Residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis (1978 - 1980). From 1980 through 1984, Dr. LeCouteur completed a PhD in Comparative Pathology at the University of California, Davis. From1984 through 1989, Dr. LeCouteur was a faculty member in Neurology/Neurosurgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Colorado State University. From1989 to 1995 Dr. LeCouteur maintained a Specialty Practice in Neurology and Neurosurgery in Sydney, Australia. From 1995 to 2015, Dr. LeCouteur was a Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis, where he served as Chair of the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences from 2000-2004. Dr. LeCouteur is a Diplomate and Past-President of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Specialty of Neurology), and a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Neurology. Currently Dr. LeCouteur is Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Davis.
